Here are some great songs that have to do with my journey!
Cold Water is a song that basically tells the story of my journey and how at some points I call upon God for his guidance but, when he does not answer, I wonder If I am alone. "Cold water" represents the difficult times I encounter such as getting to Denmark and trying to escape challenges that I may come across. "All I've got is your hand,"symbolizes that you (God) are my only hope and without you I am nothing. Even though I may not realize it and even though it may seem as if you are not there, I will never let go because I will always count on you to help me and get me through.
The Friendship Song is a song that when I listen to I immediately think about Johannes and Sopia, both have helped me physical and emotionally. Whether it be advice on how to get through in life or whether they are there when I need someone to talk to. They are definitely people who I can count on.
For example when I was frightened and alone in the back in the truck in Salonika I knew that Johannes was there with me and if he wouldn't have talked be through it, I wouldn't have had the courage to go on.
My Wish is a song that implies good luck on life. No matter what you chose to do or how you chose to proceed with a situation that you come face to face with in life, things will always turn out. Another thing that this song touches on is, just live life! Don't stress over the little things, appreciate them and find the beauty within. When an opportunity shows up...take it because in the end it will lead to amazing results! This song inspired me to keep going, even when times were tough and especially when I felt like there was no hope.
I know you may think it's crazy, but whenever I reflect on my time with Maria, I always think how we would talk about anything and everything, when we talked there was no one to judge us or tell us we were silly, it was an indescribable feeling, it was as if we were in a whole new world. So I truly think that the best song to express how my relationship with Maria, is A Whole New World.
If you can recall, I find a lot of beauty along my journey to freedom and I really fantasies over the simplest of things. You may say it's because I have never experienced the beauty life has to offer, that makes me so aware ( I was never associated with beauty in the camp, for beauty is a happy thing and happiness was not permitted in the camp). But I truly believe that I am so taken over with all this beauty, because people these days have to much to worry about that they forget to stop and appreciate all of life's great things as appose to its grave factors. I picked Beautiful People because it best relates to my encounters with beauty!
